Reports from the Sun UK on Saturday say that Manchester United are set to offer former Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho a pay that is higher than what Pep Guardiola will earn at Manchester City, thereby making him the highest paid boss ever at Manchester United and the English Premier League (EPL).
According to The Sun UK, Manchester United are ready to offer a mouthwatering £60million deal to the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss in the bid to send Manchester United back to their winning ways.
The respected British tabloid reports that the three-year deal at £20million a year dwarfs even the £15m a year which Manchester City is paying Pep Guardiola.
Now The Sun UK reports that the contract, including bonuses for titles and cups won, will make Mourinho the highest-paid football manager in history.
Mourinho’s wages will be almost double what Louis van Gaal currently earns. United and Mourinho already have an agreement in place that he will take over in May, says The Sun.
The Portuguese boss and his advisors are therefore convinced it is a done deal, which will see him trouser up to £20m a year.
It has long been an ambition of Mourinho’s to take over at Old Trafford. He was stunned when he was overlooked after Alex Ferguson retired in favour of David Moyes. The Special One ended up back at Chelsea where he won the title last season but was sacked on December 17. The Sun had revealed on December 21 that United were immediately in contact with Mourinho.
